Elyria is a city in Lorain County, Ohio, at the forks of the Black River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 55,953. It is the county seat of Lorain CountyGR6. Named by early settler, Heman Ely, according to local legend by combining his name with the locale of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Home to Lorain County Community College and the headquarters of Invacare and Ridge Tool. The Elyria High School Pioneer Marching Band is a source of pride for the community. Elyria is located at 412224N, 8266W (41.373396, -82.101692)GR1.
